Throws Coaching |
-
Developing the young thrower is an arduous and sometimes very
frustrating journey for the athlete. Coach Shawn takes an aggressive
yet patient approach to developing young throwers. Balance and posture
is critical to throwing. As simple as it sounds, this is the key
component to achieving the correct throwing positions. It will allow
the athlete to use their bodies the most efficient and effective way
without regard to height and size. The young athlete will learn tempo,
acceleration and patience with the implement. And the secret to
becoming a great thrower... passion and understanding of the sport.

Again, what is this? This
is where the athlete will develop power and strength specific to
throwing. The whole idea of throwing far depends on the athletes
ability to accelerate in the ring that will in turn accelerate the
implement using the body’s natural stretch/pull mechanism. This
stretch/pull mechanism will be improved using Olympic lifts that
includes cleans and snatches. The athlete will learn how to move
weight fast using dumbbells and soon after with the bar. This will in
turn complement the throwers ability in the ring in a short period of
time.
